Encouraged by a friend, I applied for a table at Thought Bubble, a comics festival in Leeds in the United Kingdom. And hey-- I got in! Now I need to figure out if I should accept and attend.

The decision wouldn't really be about money, since even at my best conventions I probably wouldn't turn enough of a profit to pay for my airfare to England. This would be about the experience. I've never been to England before (even though my paternal grandmother was English), but I've always wanted to visit. But more importantly, I want to meet European readers in person! I know you're out there somewhere!

I'm a very small-time cartoonist, so me being able to table in Europe is something that is not likely to happen very often. If you live in England, or even in nearby countries and would even CONSIDER coming to see me at Thought Bubble, PLEASE tell me! Email me at chu [at] raizap.com, Tweet me at @sdamned, PM me on deviantArt or Weasyl or Tumblr-- ANYTHING! You don't have to promise you'll show up or anything; I just want to know if there's any demand at all for my appearance. This is a big decision and it'd be kind of a bummer to go all that way to find, whoops, no one knows me (it'd probably still be a fun vacation though).

EDIT (3/30): I've decided to go! I really appreciate all the comments I got from people who encouraged me to take the trip. It also helped knowing that a fellow cartoonist and friend of mine was planning to attend with his girlfriend. So, uh, hopefully I can make this work and I'll see a bunch of you there!

And we're back! If you're wondering if I had a relaxing break, then the answer is... NO! Even though I wasn't working on Slightly Damned at all last month, I was working harder than ever on multiple projects! It was kind of stressful! But on the other hand, it was also productive and a lot of fun, so I'm not complaining. Here's what I've been working on:

Night of the Cleaning Lady: A fun short story that was meant to be released before Halloween, but got delayed. Anyway it's finished now and it's a fun read, so please check it out and share it with your friends if you like it!

Further Confusion 2016: I traveled to my old hometown of San Jose to table at one of my favorite conventions! I met with a lot of friends I don't get to see very much, I played awesome board games, I ate good food, I watched fun stuff, I bought cool swag, I drew a lot of commissions, I co-hosted a panel with guest of honor Dana Simpson, and I visited family after the event. I also caught con crud and it was exhausting, but also TOTALLY WORTH IT!

The Legend of Buwaro: Soprano of Time: There are 5 new strips, which you can read in this tumblr post or at the bottom of the Soprano of Time archives.

Lots and lots of drawings: My tumblr has the most content on it in regards to doodles and minicomics, but I also upload the best of it (in my opinion) to my deviantArt and Weasyl accounts, if that's what you prefer looking at. Seriously, I drew a LOT of stuff, including stuff related to Slightly Damned, Pokemon, and even autobio comics.

A sorta secret collaborative comic project: I'm coloring pages for a friend's comic project, and I think it might be something people out there will dig. I'm gonna wait until they officially reveals it before I start talking about it, because I don't want to steal their thunder. I think you'll be able to see it soon, though!

Unfortunately I don't have any new Junk Hyenas Diner pages to show off yet, but I'm getting there! And there's no bonus Slightly Damned page this weekend, but maybe next weekend? And if not then, then soon, or at least by the end of the month. See, all the things I wanted to do in January kind of spilled into February, but I didn't wanna keep you hanging with Slightly Damned, so... well, wish me luck!! And enjoy!

Hey, guys. If you missed it on my Twitter (@sdamned), then here's the skinny: Slightly Damned pages take me a long time to make. I'm feeling fatigued and frustrated, so I'm not going to work on Slightly Damned pages in January. I'm going to use that time to give my other long-neglected projects some love (Night of the Cleaning Lady, The Junk Hyenas Diner, Soprano of Time, and even the 151 Pokemon challenge and others). Hopefully by February, you guys will have enjoyed a lot more varied output from me and I'll feel somewhat refreshed!

Besides that, I'll be going to Further Confusion in January, running a table and co-hosting a panel with one of the Guests of Honor! And I'll be visiting family while I'm in the Bay Area.

I'll try to have an update ready for this coming Saturday (January 2), but I'm not making any promises.

In short, in January, the only thing you won't be getting are Slightly Damned pages. I'll still do Art Wednesdays, and for Patreon patrons, I'll still do an exclusive wallpaper for the month, and I'll still show you guys sketches. But I totally understand if patrons want to lower or rescind their pledges if they're not getting Slightly Damned pages.

So where's the Wednesday Art in the archives? Don't worry, I haven't stopped doing it! I just decided that their presence in the archives, even temporarily, was disruptive to the experience of reading the comic. If you want to see them, they'll be uploaded to all of my art sites, which are mirrors of each other:
+ deviantArt
+ FurAffinity
+ Weasyl
+ tumblr

The only exception are the "Ask Slightly Damned" comic strips, which are only uploaded to my tumblr and Patreon.

Hey folks! In case you didn't notice, my convention appearance plans have changed this fall. I am still definitely going to SPX on the east coast, but I decided that I unfortunately do not have the time or money to be able to make it to MICE. I've decided to attend a local convention (for me) in its place. I'm sorry I've disappointed anyone.

However, I still encourage anyone who can go to MICE in Cambridge, MA to check it out! A lot of my friends from The Center for Cartoon Studies will be there, and it's an awesome convention!

Hi folks! In case you didn't know, the Slightly Damned store section has been updated a LOT!
There's now brand-new charms along with signed books, plushies, and buttons available on my Storenvy:

And I drew up a TON of new designs and put them alongside some old classics on my Design by Humans apparel store:

Slightly Damned is back! Well, not that it really went anywhere in the first place. It was a pretty productive month! I got more Soprano of Time strips done, I designed some charms and t-shirts, and I did manage to squeeze in some time to just relax. I wish I could have gotten more done, but I think that's a feeling I'll always have no matter what. Anyway, thanks for your patience!

Even though I could have, I did not stop updating Slightly Damned throughout my whole two years of making comics at the Center for Cartoon Studies. Now I that I've graduated and am back at home, I am very tired! May was a particularly busy month. After mulling it over, I've decided that it'd be a good idea for me to take a break from making Slightly Damned pages for a month.

So... with The Junk Hyenas Diner is on hiatus until late September, and Slightly Damned on hiatus for June, does that mean I'm gonna sit on my butt this whole time doing nothing? Of course not!

First of all, the Patreon rewards will continue as normal. I'm still going to upload sketches, continue Art Wednesdays, work on more "Ask Slightly Damned" strips, and do bonus wallpapers. As of writing this I'm a little behind because of how hectic May was, and because I'm giving my hand a break after all those fun commissions I did during Phoenix Comic Con last weekend. I depend on my drawing hand for so much, and I don't want to end up wrecking it before I'm even 30!

Second, there a number of projects I've had to put off because I was working so hard trying to maintain Slightly Damned and Junk Hyenas at the same time. But now...:
- I'm going to make a serious effort to finish The Legend of Buwaro: Soprano of Time and put it into a book with other Slightly Damned-related gag comics and illustrations that were used as vote incentives and never seen again.
- The Junk Hyenas Diner: Volume One already exists as a book for my thesis project, but before this fall, I'm going to make it into a book that is available for purchase!
- I will resume my 151 Pokemon challenge. I don't know when I'll finally finish it, but I should try to make progress.
- My store has looked barren for quite a while, so I will work on fixing that with a bunch of new products soon!

Originally I was going to do a book pitch this month as well, but I've decided I've got enough on my plate as it is. I'm going to push that idea back for now, to give myself more time for my current projects, and also so I can stew on its story and characters for a bit longer.

So yeah, I've got my work cut out for me. I'm kind of on break this month, except not really! Even so, here are some cool things that I think you guys should check out in the main comic's absence:
+ Machaeus is making a tabletop RPG inspired by the world of Medius/Slightly Damned, and needs playtesters to help
-- Machaeus has been working on this RPG of his for quite some time now, and has even commissioned me on multiple occassions to draw art for it. However, he's hit a bit of a snag because he needs more volunteers to him him playtest the game. If you feel you've got the know-how, please contact him via e-mail at rpgcraftsman [at] gmail [dot] com for more information.
+ Irinore is needs acoustic musicians (and maybe singers?) for the song on this comic page
-- Irinore decided to compose music for the Angelic song that Buwaro and Kieri sang together. Here is the draft on their SoundCloud. If you think you can help them complete the acoustic version, please contact them!
+ Check out these awesome Kieri and Kazai cosplayers
-- oh my goodness gracious!!!
+ And this Buwaro cosplayer
-- He's one of my favorite people to see at Phoenix Comic Con!
+ My friends and I are still doing Blank Party!
-- We, as a group, do occasional Twitch streams, new Let's Play episodes twice a week (all videos are manually subtitled, so all deaf/Hard of Hearing viewers are welcome to enjoy), and are putting together our first comic anthology.
